LOCATION
· Accessible parking lots shall be located as near as possible to an accessible entrance or lift lobby.
· Parking lots for drivers with disabilities should be located at the same side as the accessible entrance or lift lobby.

As the above figure shows, parking lots are located near the accessible lift lobby and at the same side as the lift lobby as well so that drivers need not cross the road to reach the access lobby, which is very convenient especially for disabled people.
VEHICLE PARK ENTRANCE
· Vehicle park entrance shall have a height clearance of at least 2000 mm.
· In order to direct drivers with disabilities the location of accessible parking lots, clear directional signs shall be displayed at proper place.

SYMBOL
· The symbol of access should be clearly marked on the centre of the accessible parking lots in accordance with the requirements of signage mentioned before.
· The dimension of the symbol shall be a square of at least 1000mm but not exceeding 1500mm in length.
· The colour of the Symbol shall be white

Accessible Parking Lots
The number of accessible parking lots for vehicles driven by persons with physical disabilities shall apply to the following requirements as table shown:-

An accessible parking lot shall have a firm, level surface without aeration slabs with a dimension of 4800 mm by 3600 mm, be sheltered wherever possible.
Accessible Entrance
An accessible path leading to the entrance of the building, as shown in Figure 57, shall be level or have a kerb ramp complying with the following requirements:
· A ramp should be provided where the vertical riser is greater than 150mm.
· Kerb ramp shall have a minimum width of 900mm to allow free movement for wheelchairs.
· Tactile indication should be provided to indicate the kerb ramp.

SIGNAGE
Auto signs showing number of available accessible lots should be provided.
